Einsatzmöglichkeiten
Dieser Vorverstärker ist speziell für den Einsatz in
ELA-Beschallungsanlagen konzipiert. Er wird vor
den ELA-Endverstärker geschaltet und ermöglicht
den Anschluss von bis zu 10 Mikrofonen (auch
phantomgespeiste). An die Eingänge 2 bis 6 lassen
sich alternativ Audiogeräte mit Line-Ausgang an
-
schließen und an die Eingänge 7 bis 10 zusätzlich
Audiogeräte mit Line-Ausgang, auf die über Ein-
gangswahlschalter umgeschaltet werden kann. Alle
Eingänge lassen sich separat auf den Ausgang 1,
auf den Ausgang 2 oder auf beide Ausgänge gleich-
zeitig schalten.

Aufstellmöglichkeiten
Das Gerät ist für den Einschub in ein Rack (482 mm/
19") vorgesehen, kann aber auch als Tischgerät ver-
wendet werden. In jedem Fall muss Luft ungehindert
durch alle Lüftungsöffnungen strömen können,
damit kein Hitzestau im Gerät entsteht. Für den Ein-
bau in ein Rack wird 1 HE benötigt (HE = Höhenein-
heit = 44,45 mm).

Anschlüsse
Vor dem Anschließen von Geräten bzw. Än dern be -
stehender Anschlüsse den PA-1410MX und die
gesamte ELA-Anlage ausschalten.
5.1 Eingänge
Beim Anschluss der Mikrofone und der Audiogeräte
an die einzelnen Kanäle ist zu berücksichtigen, dass
die Kanäle 1 bis 3 Vorrang vor den Kanälen 4 bis 10
erhalten können.
Kanal 1:
Bei aktivierter Vorrangschaltung [über die
Buchse P.T.T 1 (21) bzw. am Mikrofon] werden beim
Sprechen in das Mikrofon des Kanals 1 die Kanäle 4
bis 10 stummgeschaltet.
Kanal 2 und 3:
Bei aktivierter Vorrangschaltung
[Schalter PRIORITY (8)] und wenn der jeweilige
Kanal auf beide Ausgänge 1 und 2 geschaltet ist,
werden die Kanäle 4 bis 10 stummgeschaltet, so -
bald ein Eingangssignal anliegt.
Ist der entsprechende Kanal nur auf den Aus-
gang 1 geschaltet, werden nur die Kanäle 4 bis 10
stummgeschaltet, die ebenfalls auf den Ausgang 1
ge schaltet sind. Entsprechendes gilt bei der Einstel-
lung auf den Ausgang 2.
5.1.1 Mikrofone
Symmetrische Mikrofone
oder
phantomgespeis -
te Mikrofone
an die Buchsen MIC INPUTS (15) und
MIC/LINE INPUTS (16) anschließen. Den entspre-
chenden Umschalter MODE (7) in eine der beiden
Positionen MIC stellen:
MIC
= Low-Cut-Filter ein (300-Hz-Hochpass)
MIC
= Low-Cut-Filter ausgeschaltet
Vorsicht!
Die 15-V-Phantomspannung liegt immer
an, wenn der Schalter MODE (7) in der Position MIC
steht und die zugehörige Steckbrücke im Gerät nicht
abgezogen wurde (siehe nächsten Absatz). Darum
in diesem Fall keine asymmetrischen Mikrofone an -
schließen, da diese be schädigt werden.
Um
asymmetrische Mikrofone
anschließen zu kön-
nen, befindet sich im Gerät für die Eingänge 2 – 10 je
eine Steckbrücke, die zum Abschalten der 15-V-
Phantomspeisung herausgezogen werden kann.
1) Den Gehäusedeckel abschrauben.
2) Nach der Abb. 3 die Steckbrücke für den jeweili-
gen Eingang herausziehen. In der Zeichnung
entsprechen die Nummern an den Brücken den
Nummern der Eingänge.
Soll der Gong umgeschaltet werden (2-Ton-
oder 4-Ton-Gong), kann dies jetzt bei geöffnetem
Gerät erfolgen (siehe Kap. 6.1.1).
3) Den Gehäusedeckel wieder festschrauben.
4) Vor dem Anschluss zur Vorsicht mit einem Span-
nungsmessgerät überprüfen, ob zwischen den
Pins 1 und 2 der entsprechenden XLR-Buchse
keine Spannung anliegt. Ist versehentlich die fal-
sche Brücke herausgezogen, wird beim An
-
schluss eines asymmetrischen Mikrofons dieses
be schädigt.
Hinweis:
Bei abgezogener Steckbrücke kann an dem
dazugehörigen Eingang kein phantomgespeis tes Mikro-
fon betrieben werden.
WARNUNG
Weil dazu der Vorverstärker geöffnet
werden muss, darf dies nur durch
eine qualifizierte Fachkraft erfolgen!

green/yellow = earth
blue = neutral
brown = live
As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this
appliance may not correspond with the coloured
markings identifying the terminals in your plug,
proceed as follows:
1. The wire which is coloured green and yellow
must be con nected to the terminal in the plug
which is mark ed with the letter E or by the earth
symbol
, or coloured green or green and yel-
low.
2. The wire which is coloured blue must be con-
nected to the terminal which is marked with the
letter N or coloured black.
3. The wire which is coloured brown must be con-
nected to the terminal which is marked with the
letter L or coloured red.

Applications
This preamplifier is especially designed for applica -
tions in PA systems. It is connected ahead of the
PA power amplifier and allows the connection of up
to 10 microphones (also phantom-powered). To the
inputs 2 to 6, audio units with line output can alterna-
tively be connected and to the inputs 7 to 10 addition -
ally audio units with line output can be connected to
which it is possible to switch via input selector
switches. All inputs can separately be switched to out-
put 1, to output 2, or to both outputs at the same time.

Installation
The unit is provided for insertion into a rack (482 mm/
19"), but it can also be used as table top unit. In each
case the air must be able to circulate without obstruc-
tion through all vents so that no heat accumulation
occurs inside the unit. For the installation into a rack,
1 rack space is required (= 44.45 mm).

Connections
Prior to connecting units or changing the connec-
tions, switch off the PA-1410MX and the entire PA
system.
5.1 Inputs
When connecting the microphones and the audio
units to the individual channels, take into considera-
tion that the channels 1 to 3 can take priority to the
channels 4 to 10.
Channel 1:
with activated priority circuit [via jack
P.T.T 1 (21) or on the microphone] channels 4 to 10
are muted when talking into the microphone of chan-
nel 1.
Channels 2 and 3:
with activated priority circuit
[PRIORITY switch (8)], if the respective channel is
switched to both outputs 1 and 2, channels 4 to 10
are muted as soon as an input signal is present.
If the corresponding channel is only switched to
the output 1, only channels 4 to 10 are muted which
are likewise switched to output 1. The same applies
if the channels are switched to output 2.
5.1.1 Microphones

Caution!
The 15 V phantom power is always ap
-
plied when the MODE switch (7) is in position MIC
and the corresponding jumper in the unit has not
been removed (see next paragraph). Therefore, do
not connect any unbalanced microphones in this
case as they will be damaged.
To be able to connect
unbalanced micro phones,
one jumper is each provided for the inputs 2 to 10
inside the unit. This jumper can be pulled out for
switching off the 15 V phantom power.
1) Screw off the housing cover.
2) According to the fig. 3, pull out the jumper for the
respective input. The numbers of the jumpers in
the drawing correspond to the numbers of the
inputs.
For switching over the chime (2-tone chime or
4-tone chime), this can now be made with the unit
opened (see chapter 6.1.1).
3) Tighten the screws of the housing cover again.
4) Prior to connection, check with a voltmeter as a
precaution if there is no voltage be tween pins 1
and 2 of the corresponding XLR jack. If a wrong
jumper is pulled out by mistake and an unbal-
anced microphone is connected, it will be da m-
aged.
Note:
In case the jumper is removed, no phantom-
powered microphone can be oper ated at the correspond-
ing input.
If the unit is to be put out of operation
definitively, take it to a local recycling
plant for a disposal which is not harmful
to the environment.
WARNING
As the preamplifier must be opened,
only qualified personnel is authorized
to perform this! Always make sure to
disconnect the mains plug from the
socket before opening the unit, other-
wise there will be an electric shock
hazard!
