System description 

Overview 

 

HarshIO 300 ePN 

modules can be used with protocol compliant controllers as part of the control system 

architecture. The built-in unmanaged 2-port Ethernet switch allows flexibility in the network topology to 
meet your application needs. These topologies include the following: 

 

star 

 

daisy-chain 

 

combination of star and daisy-chain 

 
 

Star topology 

 
Star topology allows you to connect mixed I/O modules or additional equipment. This topology allows 
maintenance on one module – for example, by removing the network cable, or by cycling power to the 
module – without affecting the other modules.
