1:8 Brushless Controller
Item no. 23 77 12 (Type „150 A HV“)
Item no. 23 87 62 (Type „150 A“)
Item no. 23 89 84 (Type „120 A“)
Intended Use
The speed controller is connected to a free channel of the remote control receiver of model
vehicles and serves as a continuous RPM control of a suitable brushless motor.
Programming of the speed controller takes place via the chip box available as accessories
(Conrad order no. 238774).
This product complies with the statutory national and European requirements. All company

Scope of Delivery

Safety Information
The guarantee/warranty will expire if damage is incurred resulting from non-
compliance with the operating instructions! We do not assume any liability for
consequential damage!
We do not assume any liability for property damage and personal injury caused
by improper use or non-compliance with the safety instructions! In such cases
the warranty/guarantee is voided.
• The unauthorized conversion and/or modification of the product is prohibited for safety and
approval reasons (CE). Never disassemble the product. There are no components inside the
casing that need to be adjusted or serviced by you. Furthermore, this will render the
guarantee/warranty void!
• The speed controller is not a toy and must be kept out of the reach of children!
• The speed controller must not become damp or wet.
• Disconnect the battery from the speed controller if you do not use the latter. The speed
controller can be temporarily switched off using the on/off switch.
• Always turn on the transmitter first and put the engine control into neutral position. Then the
speed controller may be connected to a battery pack and switched on. When switching off,
proceed in reverse order – first switch off the speed controller and disconnect it from the
rechargeable battery, then switch off the transmitter.
• The speed controller can be used with NiMH, NiCd or LiPo batteries. Please note the chapter
„Technical Data“.
The motor must be suitable for the respective battery voltage; otherwise, it would overheat
and be destroyed. The speed controller can also be damaged by this; loss of warranty and
guarantee.
• Both the speed controller and the motor and batteries become very hot during operation.
Danger of burns!
• Always use a battery pack to operate the speed controller. Never use a wall mains adapter.
• Disconnect the battery from the speed controller before charging.
• Only connect a single brushless motor to the speed controller.
• The speed controller is not suitable for the operation of conventional electric motors with two
connections! It must only be operated with a brushless electric motor.
• Keep the biggest possible distance between receiver and motor for the installation, to avoid
interaction.
• Do not install the aerial line of the receiver in parallel to the live cables.
• Do not coil up the aerial cable. For example, use an aerial tube which protrudes from the
vehicle in a perpendicular position.
• When operating the model, sufficient cooling has to be provided for the speed controller as
well as the motor. Never cover the cooling body and the fan or the speed controller!
• Check the ventilator function at every commissioning, do not block the fan, remove dust and
contamination from the fan that has collected there, e.g. by operation of the vehicle.
• Do not block the drive. The resulting currents may destroy the motor and/or speed controller.
• Observe a smooth drive section and perform regular maintenance.
• Check the vehicle and the sped controller/motor for damage. If you discover any damage, do
not operate the vehicle or the speed controller/motor anymore.
• Handle the product with care; impacts, shock or fall even from low heights will damage it.
• Do not leave packaging material unattended. It may become a dangerous toy for children.
When operating vehicles, make sure that no body parts or other objects come into contact with
moving parts. Risk of injury!
Assembly
• If the product is to be used as a replacement for an existing speed controller, first remove the
old speed controller from your model.
• Attach the new speed controller in the chassis. Select the same assembly site depending on
the space situation. Ideally, it should be as far away from the receiver as possible. The speed
controller should not be directly next to the motor either. Observe that the red and orange LED
installed below the three motor connection cables are still visible when installed.
• Connect speed controller cables to the motor’s cables, note the colour coding of the cables, this
ensures the forward/reverse operation of the motor is synchronous with that of the speed
controller.
If the motor is rotating in the wrong direction anyway (e.g. because the speed controller is
installed in a new vehicle), simply swap two of the three motor connections. The motor then
turns in the other direction.
• If a van is present at the motor, you need to connect it to the two-pin (red/black) cable with
socket). Ensure correct cable assignment (red = plus/+, black = minus/-).
• You can use hook and loop tape or double-sided tape to attach the speed controller in the
vehicle.
• Check the four attachment screws of the fan for tight fit. Also check them regularly after
operation of the vehicle.
• The on/off switch should be attached so that it can be operated easily. Also use hook-and-loop
tape or double-sided tape for installation.
• Install all cables so that they cannot become entangled in rotating or moving parts of the vehicle.
Use cable ties to secure them.
Programming
a) Programming of Full Throttle and Neutral Positions
For programming the full throttle positions for forward/reverse driving and the neutral position,
proceed as follows:
• Switch on the transmitter, but leave the throttle/brake in the neutral position. Put the trimming
for driving into the centre position.
• Switch on the receiver power supply if it is performed via a separate receiver battery. If this is
not the case, you need to connect the driving battery as well.
• Keep the setup button pressed and turn the speed controller on. Press and hold the setup
button until the orange LED comes on (about 4 seconds). Then release the setup button.
• Move the throttle/brake lever into full throttle for forward driving (pull the throttle all the way
towards the handle) and keep it there. The red LED flashes for about 2-3 seconds and then is
lit permanently.
If this is not the case and the red LED only flashes when you move to the full throttle
position reverse (throttle lever away from the handle), you need to set the reverse
switch for the driving function to „Reverse“.
For this, first switch off the speed controller. After switching the reverse switch at the
transmitter, proceed again as described above.
The motor emits a sound signal. The full throttle position for forward driving is stored.
The sound signal is generated because the brushless motor is activated for a moment.
Depending on the motor, this sound signal may be very low or inaudible. In this case,
observe the LED on the speed controller.
• Move the throttle/brake lever into full throttle for reverse driving (push the throttle away from the
handle all the way) and keep it there. The orange LED flashes for 2-3 seconds and then is lit
permanently. The motor emits two sound signals. The full throttle position for reverse driving
is stored.
• Release the throttle/brake so that it sits in the neutral position. The red LED and the orange LED
flash at the same time for about 2-3 seconds and go out then. The motor emits three sound
signals. The neutral position is now saved.
• Switch the speed controller off; the programming is complete and stored now.
• If you switch on the speed controller now, the speed controller is ready for operation with the
settings made above. In this case, the orange LED remains lit.
b) Programming the Special Functions
If ordered as a spare part, the speed controller is pre-programmed by the manufacturer with the
settings best for the vehicle (e.g. motor timing, start mode, etc.).
This programming can be changed with a chip box for controller tuning that is available as an
accessory (Conrad item no. 238774).
The chip box is not part of the delivery. It must be ordered separately. All special functions and
their programming are described in the operating instructions for the programming card.
