4) Bolt the gear cover block (D-31) to the
main gear bracket using two 3mm x 15mm ma-
chine screws and two 3mm flat washers. The
block should be orientated with the countersunk
holes facing up and the angle (taller side towards
the front) facing the rear of the fuselage. See
photo # 21 below.

INSTALLING THE GEAR COVER
o
5) Using a ruler, measure the distance from
the rear edge of the plywood cowl ring to the
center of each predrilled hole in the gear cover
block. The measurements should be approxi-
mately 9/16” to the forward hole and 1-1/4” to
the rear hole. Make a notation of these mea-
surements on scrap paper for later reference.
o
6) Trial fit the fiberglass gear cover over the
gear bracket. Using a Dremel Tool with a cutting
disc, remove the portion of the gear cover that in-
terferes with the landing gear bracket. See photo
# 22 below.
o
7) Install the wing onto the fuselage and set
the gear cover in place. The front and rear edges
of the gear cover should align with the fuselage
and the belly pan. When satisfied with the fit, use
220 grit sand paper and roughen the inside sur-
face of the gear cover, where it will be glued to
the mounting block.
You may need to trim the top of the mount-
ing block to allow the gear cover to fit flush
with the bottom of the fuselage.

8) Mix up a small amount of Kwik Bond 5
Minute Epoxy. Apply a generous layer of epoxy
to the top of the mounting block, being careful
not to get any glue into the two holes.
o
9) Set the gear cover in position and realign.
Hold the gear cover in place using a couple of
pieces of masking tape. Allow the epoxy to com-
pletely cure. Remove the wing.
o
10) Using the measurements found in step
# 5, locate the position of the predrilled holes in
the mounting block beneath the gear cover.
o
11) Using a 1/4” drill bit, drill two holes
through the gear cover at the two marks made.
See photo # 23 below.

Opening the access holes through the gear
cover will allow removal of the gear cover
assembly so the landing gear bracket can be ser-
viced if necessary.
INSTALLING THE MAIN GEAR WHEELS
o
12) Working with only one wheel assembly
at this time, slide one 4mm flat washer onto one
4mm x 30mm axle screw. Slide one 76mm di-
ameter wheel onto the 4mm x 30mm axle screw.
The wheel should go on with the recessed side of
the hub first.
o
13) Slide one 4mm flat washer onto the axle
screw and up against the wheel. Slide one 4mm
nylon spacer onto the axle screw. Install one 4mm
nylon insert nut onto the axle screw and tighten it
against the nylon spacer. Adjust the nut so the
wheel spins free, but it not too loose. See photo
# 24 below.
