Important Safeguards
Read all instructions carefully, even if you are
quite familiar with the product. Please retain these
instructions for future reference.
In order to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock,
and/or injury, basic safety precautions should
always be followed when using mains-powered
products. These include:
• Check that the voltage of the main circuit
corresponds with the rating of the appliance
before operating.
• DO NOT immerse cords, plugs or any part of
the appliance in water or any other liquid.
• The iron should always be switched off before
connecting or disconnecting from the power
supply. To unplug, grasp the plug and pull from
the power socket. Never pull the iron or carry it
by the cord.
• DO NOT pull the plug out by the cord, as this
may damage the plug and/or the cable.
• If the supply cord or appliance is damaged,
stop using the appliance immediately and
seek advice from the manufacturer or its
service agent or a similarly qualified person.
• Do not attempt to repair or disassemble the
appliance. There are no user-serviceable parts.
• DO NOT let the cord hang over the edge of
a table or counter, or let it come into contact
with any hot surfaces.
• This appliance is not intended for use by
persons (including children) with reduced
physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack
of experience and knowledge, unless they
have been given supervision or instruction
concerning use of the appliance by a person
responsible for their safety.
• Children should be supervised to ensure that
they do not play with the appliance.
• Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be
made by children without supervision.
• The use of accessory attachments is
not recommended by the appliance
manufacturer, apart from those supplied with
this product. DO NOT use extension cords with
the appliance.
• If you are leaving the iron momentarily, always
switch it off, remove the plug from the wall
socket, and stand the iron upright.
• Only use normal tap water or distilled water in
this product.
• Never direct steam toward people, pets or
electrical systems.
• DO NOT leave the iron unattended when
connected to the mains or on an ironing
board.
• When you have finished ironing or when
you are leaving the iron unattended: Press
the steam dial to [0] position, and the
temperature control dial to the ‘OFF’ position.
Stand the iron upright and disconnect the
appliance from the mains socket.
• DO NOT place the iron on an unprotected
surface.
• Stand the iron on its heel on a level, stable,
heat-resistant surface.
NOTE: Some parts of the iron have been
slightly greased and as a result, the iron
may smoke slightly when switched on for
the first time. This should not occur after
the first few uses.
• Do not place any part of this appliance on or
near a hot gas or electric burner.
• Burns can occur from touching hot metal
parts, hot water or steam. Be careful when
you turn the iron upside down to empty
excess water from the tank, as this will be hot.
• Do not allow the power cord to touch hot
surfaces, and always ensure the cord is
adequately constrained. Let the iron cool
down completely before storing away.
• Only pick up the appliance by its handle, as
certain parts of the appliance become hot
during use.
• Ensure that the iron’s soleplate does not
become damaged by rough surfaces or
sharp objects, e.g. zips.
• Always switch off and disconnect the power
plug from the wall socket before filling the iron
with water, or pouring the remaining water
out. It is recommended that the water be
emptied after every use.
• To avoid an overloaded circuit, do not
operate another high wattage appliance on
the same electrical circuit.
• Do not use the iron for anything other than
its intended use. This product is intended for
household use only.
• Do not add vinegar, perfumed water or any
chemical-based liquids into the water tank,
as doing so can seriously damage the iron.
• Do not use outdoors.
• The iron must be used and rested on a stable
surface.
