3 Message bar
The message bar is a second rectangular area at the top of the menu that displays confirma-
tion messages when certain actions are in progress (e.g., “Changing Channels”) or have com-
pleted (e.g., “NV9000 Salvo Successful”).
4 Selection buttons
A selection button lets you choose an one of several items. In Figure 4-1, the selection but-
tons select DSK (downstream keyers).
5 Scroll bar
The scroll bar allows operators to move through a long list of items, such as the DSKs in
Figure 4-1. (If all the entries in a list can fit on the display, the scroll bar is not required and
therefore not displayed.)
6 Navigation buttons
A navigation button takes you to another menu.
7 Toggle buttons
A toggle button lets you (1) choose one of several items or (2) switch the state of some
parameter.
In Figure 4-1, for example, the ‘Still’ and ‘Anim’ buttons each enables (or disables) a subset of
the available DSKs for selection.
8 Momentary buttons
Momentary buttons perform a single task, usually of short duration.
In Figure 4-1, for example, the ‘Clear DSK’ button unselects the currently selected DSK. The
‘Show Selection’ button changes the display so the currently selected DSK is in the window.
That is useful for very long lists of DSKs.
9 Rotary knobs
You can adjust menu parameters (such as keyer opacity) by rotating the parameter’s associ-
ated knob. (Figure 4-1 does not show any parameters that can be controlled by knobs.)
For disabled parameters, turning a knob has no effect. Enabled parameters show a green
“asterisk” near by the knob to show that it is usable. (There are 8 menu knobs.)
