3.2 Installing and removing the M18™ 500GB Control Hub
Installing the M18™ 500GB Control Hub
1. Grasp the Control Hub by the handle and present it to the Pipeline Inspection Reel.
2. On the back of the reel, turn the push cable drum brake locking knob counterclockwise
to unlock it.
3. Reach into the reel and grab the spring termination assembly.
4. Feed the spring and one foot of push cable through the cable guide.
5. Push the Control Hub into the Pipeline Inspection Reel until the locking click sound is heard.
6. Push the push cable and spring termination back into the Pipeline Inspection Reel until
the spring lines up with the spring holder.
7. Push the spring into the spring locking clip.
Service Note - Dielectric grease is applied between the Hub-to-Reel connections in the
Hub before the unit is shipped. Over time it may be necessary to re-apply this grease
especially if you suspect any Hub-to-Reel connectivity issues or image quality issues.
Use Milwaukee type X Dielectric Grease (Part#: 49-08-5000) or equivalent to apply
beads of grease to the Hub terminals as shown below. After adding the grease insert and
remove the Hub a few times to adequately coat the terminals.
