Work Cable
Attach welding power source electrode cable to Heater
electrode terminal, and welding power source work cable to
Heater work terminal.
.
Connect cable ends to the correct polarity. Do not reverse
the polarities.
.
If cables are accidentally reversed, wait for heater to
power up and display fault before correcting polarity.
.
Weld cables must be routed together to ensure proper
communication between the ArcReach Heater and the
power source. Do not use a structure as part of the power/
communication path.
Turn on welding power source.
After connection are made, the ArcReach Heater will take a
few moments to automatically power up and start communica-
tion with the welding machine.
ArcReach Heater Supply Voltage
The ArcReach Heater requires 28 volts to power up and
communicate with the welding power source.
Some TIG machines have a low output voltage option, below
the 28 volts required by the ArcReach Heater. See the power
source Owner’s Manual for instructions on adjusting the
minimum voltage, or set the power source for MIG or Stick
mode before connecting the ArcReach Heater.
On an XMT 350 FieldPro, see Powering an ArcReach
Smart Heater In Lift-Arc TIG Mode
.
To power an ArcReach Smart Heater in Lift-Arc TIG mode,
the OCV will need to be changed to 28.0.
Procedure:
1. Turn mode switch to Lift-Arc TIG.
2. Hold Arc Control button in for 3 seconds until OCV 14.0 or
28.0 is displayed.
3. Turn adjust knob to select OCV 28.0 for powering ArcReach
Smart Heater.
4. Once selected, OCV 28.0 will be the new default.
5. For normal Lift-Arc TIG operation follow the same procedure
to select OCV 14.0.
