2.4.2 Transmitted light polarization

The polarization microscope can only be used
with transmitted light. The polarizer slide is
placed in the condenser of the stage or can be
used as rotatable polarizer which is directly
mounted into the filter holder of the transmitted
light illumination of the microscope. The 180°
rotatable analyzer slide (1) is can be clamped
by the locking screw (3).
2.4.3 Compensator

Compensator (

/4) filters can be used for
evaluation and measurement of optical path
differences and improvement or change of
image contrast. The compensator have their own
constant optical path difference (birefringence)
and are placed in a 45° angle between the two
crossed polarizers.
