Water Intake Behavior

Hot-water intake during pre-wash (heavy soil).

Item:

The hot-water inlet valve (Y12) is activated during the water intake

phase of the pre-wash cycle in certain programs. Clients may notice this
activity and question it, thinking there may be a malfunction.

Explanation:

This is by design. Improvements in wash technology along with

advancements in fabric care indicate that this is a desirable adjunct to the
main wash portion of certain programs. Any time a water temperature other
than cold is selected, the machine will take in a combination of hot water and
cold water to maintain the desired temperature. This will happen in pre-wash
as well as main wash portions of the program.

Wash-Water Temperatures Used in the SLC Models

The following chart outlines the wash-water temperatures maintained by the
SLC washers:

Sanitize = 70°C (158°F); Hot = 60°C (140°F); Very Warm = 50°C (122°F);
Warm = 40°C (104°F); Cold = 30°C (86°F).

Please do not deviate from these values when talking to customers, dealers
or members of our sales team.

SLC Washer Start Button Behavior

It has been brought to our attention that some service calls are being
generated because the start button is not functioning. This applies to W 4800
and W 4840.

Solution:

It’s quite possible that the customer is holding the button down too

long. A brief push on the

Start

button is all that is required. Holding it too long

will give no results. When troubleshooting over the phone, have the customer
open and close the door, make sure the “Start” LED is blinking, and then
have them push the button briefly.

Programming is Required When Replacing the
Power/Control Electronic in the W 4800 and W 4840
Washers

When replacing the power/control electronic (p/n 6921580 ELP 255) in an
SLC washer, the following programming steps are required. These apply
when using the Miele diagnostic software.

1) In all cases, confirm that the water path unit is a 5-position assembly
