Description of the hob
Cooking zones - diameters
The cooking zones are clearly marked
on the hob surface.
Only the particular zone which has
been switched on will beheated. The
rest of the hob surface remains rela-
tively cool.
Residual heat indicator
There is an indicator light for each
cooking zone in the hob display field.
When a cooking zone is switched on its
indicator lights up.
This also serves as a
residual heat in-
dicator
, which stays on after the cook-
ing zone has been switched off, and
only goes out when this area of the ce-
ramic surface has reached a tempera-
ture safe to touch.
Pan recognition
Each cooking zone has a "pan recogni-
tion" feature. With this the zone only
starts heating up once a pan has been
placed on it.
"Pan recognition" reacts when a pan
of a suitable metal is used.
It also reacts when any object of a
suitable metal is placed on it, so it
is very important to switch the zone
off immediately after use for cook-
ing.
When the pan is removed, the flow of
energy is interrupted. The indicator
light in the hob display field for that
zone flashes.
When the pan is placed back on the
zone the zone switches on again and
the light stays on constantly.
If you are using a pan made from
non-metallic material, e.g. glass, ce-
ramic, you can turn off the "pan rec-
ognition" feature as follows:
Turn the control anti-clockwise be-
yond the figure "0" until the control
light comes on.
Then turn the zone control clockwise
to the setting required.
To reactivate the "pan recognition" fea-
ture again turn the zone control to "0".
