ABI (Ankle Brachial Index)
The systolic blood pressure values of a person’s arm and
leg need to be measured In order to determine ABI (Ankle
Brachial Index).
The ankle-brachial index (ABI) is then calculated using
the quotient of the systolic pressure value from the leg
measurement and the systolic pressure value from the arm
measurement.
A low ankle-brachial index (ABI) is indicative of systemic
vascular disease, and places a patient in the high-risk
category.
