Programming The PGA
The DIP switch lines are connected to the five microcontroller I/O lines (RA5, RA2,
RC0, RC1 and RC2) with pull-down resistors (Refer to Figure 1-1 and
Appendix
A. “Schematic and Board Layouts”
). The extreme top switch is the Most Significant
Bit (MSB) and the extreme bottom switch is the Least Significant Bit (LSB). Pushing the
switches right corresponds to the ‘
1
’, as shown on Table 1-1. Once the DIP switch is
configured to the desired setting, the
READ
push-button switch must be pressed and
released. When the button is released, the microcontroller reads the DIP switch
settings and transmits the corresponding command and data bytes to the PGAs. The
microcontroller remains in a loop to continuously monitor the
READ
push button switch.
