TUDOR NHRE
18.0 water
systems
Tudor NHRE Water Heaters are suitable for connection to vented, unvented or boosted water supply systems.
In each case, appropriate valves and fittings should be used to ensure compliance with the requirements of
the water byelaws and as appropriate, the Building Regulations.
18.1 water Connections
general
Connections to the water heater should be made using only appropriate Water Byelaws scheme
approved fittings for use with tube and pipe and in conjunction with similarly approved jointing materials.
Connections should be made to the tappings on the appliance as shown in section 10.
The drain valve must be installed as low as possible and must not be positioned above the level of the
drain tapping on the appliance. The drain tapping is positioned at the lowest point of the vessel and is
capable of draining at least 80% of the total capacity of the vessel.
18.2 vented
systems
If the water heater is to be connected to a gravity feed cold water tank or cistern then the hot water
supply pipe must include an open vent pipe which discharges over the cold feed cistern. The cold feed
cistern must have an actual capacity of greater volume than the hourly recovery rate of the water heater
which it supplies.
