User Guide

Replacing a Module

This section describes how to replace a module in the R4000 chassis.

1.

If there are any fiber optic cables installed, disconnect them from the
module.

WARNING: Avoid looking into the laser beam coming from the cable.

2.

Turn the two thumb screws counterclockwise several times to loosen the
module from the chassis.

to loosen.

3.

Gently pull to remove the module out of the slot.

4.

Insert the new module into the slot. Do not force it into the chassis unneces-
sarily. It should slide in easily and evenly.

5.

Push the module until the front panel is flush and even with the chassis.

6.

Turn the two thumb screws clockwise until snug. The module is now
properly installed and ready for connection to the network.
