Clean oil from the ring gear and pinion teeth.
Dry the parts immediately. Refer to Section 3
for procedures

Measure and note the ring gear backlash.

Remove the cotter key from the right side
adjustment nut.

Remove the capscrews and washers that hold
the bearing caps on the carrier.

10. Manually remove the caps and the adjustment
nuts. If necessary, strike the caps gently with a
plastic mallet.
