Section 2 - Getting to Know Your Power Package

When the system detects a problem with the engine or system, the System View displays

alarm messages to alert the operator to the potential problem. If the problem can cause

immediate engine damage, the engine's Guardian system responds to the problem by

limiting engine power. If using a System View to monitor engine operation, refer to the

System View Operation Manual for further explanation of alert messages and instructions

on how to proceed. For information on the engine's Guardian system, refer to

Engine

Guardian Strategy

, in this manual.

Digital Gauges

A Mercury SmartCraft System instrument package can be purchased for this product. A

few of the functions the instrument package will display are engine RPM, coolant

temperature, oil pressure (requires a SmartCraft oil pressure sender kit), battery voltage,

fuel consumption, and engine operating hours.
SmartCraft digital gauges also feature troll control. This allows a vessel to maintain a

constant speed with an engine speed between 500 and 1200 RPM.
