Media Interface
This enables the connection of mobile
audio equipment (e.g. MP3 player, iPod) and the
sending of video data in combination with the
COMAND Online multimedia system.
The required adapters are included with the vehicle.
The devices connected by USB can be operated
using the multifunction steering wheel button
groups, the buttons of the head unit, the audio/
COMAND control panel or the LINGUATRONIC
voice control system. The menu navigation and
graphics display of the menu navigation are
executed on the audio/COMAND display and is
dependent on each connected portable terminal.
AUX devices must be operated on the device itself.
USB interface
There is a USB interface in the stowage compart-
ment of the center console for connecting external
media devices.
Audio 5 USB with the option to connect an
iPhone (SA)
For the Audio 5 USB a preinstallation is available for
the iPhone as special equipment. The audio source
is muted during a telephone call and any navigation
announcements are set to a lower volume.
The signals (Mute telephone or Mute navigation) are
received by the radio as follows:
• iPhone

• Bluetooth

• Control unit for iPhone
®
cradle
External audio equipment can be connected using
the AUX connection. The media source is selected
on the external audio equipment itself. The radio
can be used to adjust the volume and to activate
the traffic message notification function.
