b
New technical features
The A-Class is based on the well-proven technology
of the B-Class and it is fully integrated into the
ASSYST PLUS maintenance system for the
extended maintenance strategy.
New engines
The 4-cylinder direct injection gasoline engine
M 270 and the diesel engines OM 651 and OM 607
are installed in die A-Class.
M 270
The previous interval from the Mercedes-Benz
maintenance strategy of "every 250,000 km/
15 years" for the additional maintenance opera-
tions of "Replace fuel filter for gasoline engines"
and "Replace coolant" has changed to a new
interval of "every 200,000 km/10 years" for the
gasoline engine M 270.
OM 607/OM 651
For diesel engines OM 651 and OM 607 the service
interval for the additional maintenance operations
"Replace coolant" is now also "Every 200,000 km/
10 years".
For the new additional maintenance operation
"Replace toothed belt" on the OM 607 a service
interval of "200,000 km/10 years" applies across
Europe, while "100,000 km/5 years" applies for all
other countries.
Use of 7-speed automatic dual clutch trans-
mission
The introduction of the dual clutch, 7-speed auto-
matic transmission into the A-Class means that the
oil and filter changing intervals have changed from
every 60,000 km (previously) to every 100,000 km/
5 years (new).
