Possible causes/consequences and

Solutions

Switch off the ignition and switch it back on.

To apply:

Release and then apply the electric parking brake manually (

→

page 194).

To release:

Apply and then release the electric parking brake manually.

If it is not possible to apply the electric parking brake or the red

indicator lamp continues to flash:

Do not continue driving under any circumstances. Consult a qualified specialist workshop.

Where necessary, also safeguard the parked vehicle against rolling away.

The yellow

indicator lamp is lit and the red

indicator lamp flashes for approximately ten seconds after

the electric parking brake has been applied or released. It then remains lit or goes out. The electric parking brake is

malfunctioning.
If the battery charge level is too low:

Charge the battery.

To apply:

Switch off the ignition.

The electric parking brake is applied automatically.
