PROGRESS IS IGNITED
WHEN INSPIRATION SPARKS MOTIVATION.
In the history of human mobility, there might be no stronger evidence of self-motivation than the patent for the very first self-propelled car.
For over 125 years, Mercedes -Benz has reasserted this by repeatedly advancing nearly every element of driving, and orchestrating them
with seamless elegance. For 2013, no car in its class offers more choices in propulsion than the E-Class. Remarkably, each is a fresh take
on technology first introduced under the Three-Pointed Star. From the inventor of the diesel car, BlueTEC is arguably today’s cleanest, most
advanced diesel technology. From the maker of the first fuel-injected car comes a line of Direct Injection gasoline V-6 and twin-turbo V-8
engines. And the engineers who put the first hybrid with a lithium-ion battery on the road proudly introduce it to the E-Class. But driving the
future takes more than cleaner, quicker and more efficient power. There’s also advanced 4

all-wheel drive, from the innovators of the
first 4 -wheel-drive vehicle. And clever, road-sensing AGILITY CONTROL — the latest from the originators of 4 -wheel independent suspension.
Igniting progress, and motivating an entire industry, are long-held passions. How long? Did we mention who won history’s first auto race?
Persuasive.
The E-Class offers a compelling choice of
responsive, fuel-efficient and ultralow-emission engines.
An advanced gasoline V-6 teams up with a torque -rich
electric motor and lithium-ion battery in the new E 400
HYBRID. A turbocharged clean diesel V-6

in the E 350
BlueTEC outputs more torque than many gasoline V-8s,
but fewer greenhouse gases. Industry-leading BlueTEC
technology converts nitrogen oxide emissions to pure
oxygen and nitrogen. And three Direct Injection engines
make more torque from less gasoline: The 302-hp V-6
in the E 350 Sedans and Wagons, the 402-hp twin-turbo
E 550 V-8, and the 518-hp biturbo V-8 in the E 63 AMG
can each finely tune their fuel spray while firing their
spark plugs up to four times — all in a single millisecond.
Confident.
Standard on the E 350 Wagons and E 550,
4
matic
all-wheel drive is also optional on the gasoline-
powered E 350 Sedans. Its 4-wheel Electronic Traction
System (4-ETS) continually redistributes torque to the
wheels with the best grip — even if that’s a single wheel.

With light weight and a 45:55 front/rear torque split,
4
matic
combines confident grip with sporty, balanced
handling and admirable fuel economy all year-round.
Engaging.
The smooth 7-speed automatic transmission
is engineered for crisper, quicker shifts and improved
efficiency. An elegant electronic selector, sporty paddle
shifters and a new Manual mode allow complete control
of gear changes without taking a hand from the wheel.
Poised.
The nimble 4-wheel independent multilink
suspension is enhanced with AGILITY CONTROL — an
innovation that reacts to the every change in the road,
it instantly recalibrates each shock absorber to balance
crisp handling with a composed ride. Sport models
feature firmer tuning, while Luxury models emphasize
comfort. Wagons add AIRMATIC rear air suspension
that automatically adapts to varying loads and roads.
Expressive.
Generous 17" alloy wheels in either of two
designs outfit most E-Class models. More aggressive
18" alloys

are standard on the E 350 and E 550 Sport
Sedans, and optional on the E 350 4

Sport Wagon.
E 63 AMG models are endowed with 19" AMG wheels.
