1. Engine coolant reservoir
Coolant should reach top of tab
inside filler neck when coolant is cold
Warning: Removing cap while
hot can result in personal injury
2. Brake fluid reservoir
Fill with MB (DOT 4) brake fluid
3. Fuse box
4. Engine oil filler cap
Tip: Engine not equipped with
oil dipstick; oil level checked
via Multi-function display
5. Windshield and headlamp
washer reservoir
Fill with MB Windshield Washer
Concentrate “S” plus water when
temperature is above freezing
or “S” plus premixed windshield
washer solvent/antifreeze when
temperature is below freezing
6. Hood latch
Pull inside hood release handle, lift
up on safety catch (6) at forward
center edge of hood, raise hood
Tip: To avoid damage to wipers
and hood, open hood only with
wipers in parked position
Tip: Automatic transmission
does not have a dipstick
Break-in period
First 1,000 miles:
Drive at moderate and varying road
and engine speeds
Avoid full throttle, excessive engine
speeds or kick-down of transmission
After 1,000 miles:
Speeds may be gradually increased
to permissible maximum
Antilock Brake System (ABS)
ABS automatically pumps the brakes
to prevent wheel lock-up
You may feel and hear a slight pulsing of
the brake pedal; this is normal when you
have reached wheel lockup threshold
Warning: Do not pump brakes;
maintain constant firm pressure
on brake pedal to maximize braking
Brake Assist System (BAS)
Provides maximum power boost as soon as
possible during certain emergency stops
To apply continuous full braking power,
do not reduce brake pedal pressure
If BAS light comes on, a malfunction
has occurred, Mercedes-Benz Center
inspection required
Sensotronic Brake Control (SBC)
Combines hydraulic brake circuit with
electronically controlled brake servo
assistance, you have increased braking
safety with improved braking comfort
SBC brake system malfunction or low
electrical energy will result in longer
brake pedal travel and greater brake
force to be applied by driver, Mercedes-
Benz Center inspection required
Tire economy and tips
Maintain correct front and rear alignment
Maintain correct tire pressure, check
pressure when tires are cold
Rotate tires and check balance
based on degree of tire wear and
recommendation of tire manufacturer
Spare tire/rim life limited to 12,000 miles
Tips: A tire pressure recommendation
table is located inside fuel filler door
See Operator’s Manual for important
safety information regarding tires
and vehicle loading
Snow tires (not included)
M+S radial-ply tires on all four wheels
are recommended for winter driving
Snow chains (not included)
Snow chains should be installed
only on rear tires; follow the
manufacturer’s mounting instructions;
remove as soon as possible when
driving on roads without snow
Warning: Never exceed chain
manufacturer’s specified
maximum speed and never
drive faster than 30 mph
