Measurement of body fat –
continued:
10. Stand completely still on the scales. The values for the percentage of body fat/water/muscle/bone
are displayed as follows:
Body fat
Water
Muscle
Bone
The values for body weight - body fat - water - muscle - bone are shown twice before the scales
automatically switch off. (The measurement is then complete).
Measurement of the percentage of body water
Water is an important constituent of the body. Water constitutes approximately 51-69% of the total body
weight. It is mainly found in muscle tissue. Water is part of the biochemical reactions in the body. Waste
products are transported via water in the cells and leave the body in sweat and urine. Water helps the
body to maintain its temperature, moisturizes and lubricates the body
.
The water content in the body
changes with the body's fluid level. For health reasons it is important to keep an eye on the water content.
The expected percentage of water in the body may vary with fluid balance. How much water you've drunk
or how much you have sweated just before the measurement affects the values. Try to avoid large
fluctuations in the fluid balance before measuring the proportion of water in the body.
The appliance uses bioelectric impedance analysis, which is one of the most accurate ways to measure
body fat, water and muscle. It sends a harmless signal through the fat and muscle tissue in the body. It
measures weight and percentage body fat, water and muscles almost simultaneously. You get a precise
measurement of the current values and a general picture of your health.
