Chapter 2 – Installation
Requirements of the installation location
The following requirements must be fulfilled:
The installation location is dry and frost-free.
The installation location is accessible for the installation, operation and regular replacement of the
filter.
The hose connections are freely accessible.
Space requirements
The water treatment unit should preferably be stored in the optionally available
Cliniclave 45/Cliniclave 45 D floor unit. If the steam sterilizer is to be set up without the floor unit, an area
of 52x20x50 cm (WxDxH) should be designated for the reverse osmosis unit. An area of 35x50x35 cm
(WxDxH) is required for the pressure tank. Sufficient space should be guaranteed permitting free access to
the steam sterilizer hoses and cables to the reverse osmosis unit and for replacement of the filter.
Installation
In order to connect the reverse osmosis unit, proceed as follows:
1.
Switch off the steam sterilizer at the power switch.
2.
Loosen the screws from the cover of the osmosis module and pull the cover upwards. Proceed
with caution.
3.
Remove the caps from the steam sterilizer connections and the reverse osmosis unit and store
them safely. They could be required for transport or decommissioning.
4.
Connect the feed water line, the waste water line (0.7 m) and the cold water line to the
corresponding connections of the steam sterilizer floor tank (Fig. 2, pos. 8, 9 and 10).
5.
Secure the MELAdem 56 to the screws at the spacers on the rear panel of the floor unit.
6.
Connect the waste water line (0.7 m) and the cold water line with the corresponding connections
on the MELAdem 56 (Fig. 1, pos. 4 and 5).
7.
Connect the permeate line (1.0 m) to the MELAdem 56 (Fig. 1, pos. 12).
8.
Using the manometer included in the scope of delivery, set the pressure tank primary pressure on
the valve on the side of the container at 0.6 bar. Should the primary pressure of an empty
pressure tank exceed 0.6 bar, reduce the pressure by pressing in the valve tappet. Following
insufficient pressure, this pressure must be increased using e.g. a foot pump.
9.
Connect the feed water line to the pressure tank (Fig. 1, pos. 9).
WARNING
The hoses may not be allowed to suffer kinking or crushing.
10.
Connect the reverse osmosis unit power connector to the steam sterilizer power connection in the
floor tank and then connect the safety latch.
