Testing a Patient’s Blood Glucose
Step 3. When the blood drop icon appears on the screen,
gently bring the test strip to the test site and touch the
drop of blood. The drop of blood will be drawn in
automatically by the test strip.
IMPORTANT:
•
DO NOT touch the sampling end of the test strip.
•
DO NOT smear the blood drop onto the sampling end.
•
DO NOT add or apply a second drop of blood. This may cause a false result.
•
When there is an insufficient blood sample, the strip icon and the message “Er 4”
will appear. Eject and discard the used test strip. Repeat the test with a new
test strip.
•
Do not drop the blood directly on the end of the test strip.
•
The sample channel at the end of the test strip should show full. When you hear a
beeping sound, you have enough blood in the test strip.
•
Do not hold or shake a meter while it is testing.
