12.6. Using the aperture setting mode
This mode lets you manually control the f-stop value, and the camera automatically
selects a suitable shutter speed.
The aperture setting influences the depth of field of a picture; when a larger aperture (=
smallest f-number) is chosen, only one object is in focus and the background appears
blurred.
Choose a small aperture for a picture where all
objects should be in focus.
Turn the mode wheel to the
CX
position. The
aperture mode
CX
icon appears in the top left
corner of the display.
Press the
QM
button to call up the setting
mode.
Use the
buttons to choose the required
f-stop value.
Press the shutter release all the way down to take the picture.
12.7. Using the shutter setting mode
This mode is appropriate for taking pictures of moving subjects.
A fast shutter speed freezes movement (such as running children), whereas a slower
shutter speed generates movement (e.g. flowing water).
Turn the mode wheel to the
VX
position. The
aperture mode
VX
icon appears in the top left
corner of the display.
Press the
QM
button to call up the setting
mode.
Use the
buttons to choose the required
shutter value.
Press the shutter release all the way down to
take the picture.
