STORAGE/TRANSPORT PROCEDURES
To prevent fu el sp ill when transporting o r during t empora ry storage , the genera to r should be secured upright i n its normal
operating position , wi th the eng i ne and fuel s wi tches OFF .
1. Be sure the storage area is free of excessive humidity, and dust.
a. Keep heat , sp ar ks , and flames away from the generator.
b. Handle fuel only outdoors .
c. W ipe up spills im med iate l y.
d. Kee p out of reach of children and pets .
2. D r ain the fuel:
a. Drain a ll gasol in e from the fu e l ta n k into an approved gasoline container.
b. Loosen t he c arburetor drain bolt and dra i n the gasoline in t o a suitable container by the fuel drain pipe.
c. When all the fuel is dra i ned , tum the petcock to the OFF position , and tighten the drain screw securely.
3. Change the engine oil .
4. Rem ove the spa r k p l ug a nd pour about a tab l e- spoon of clean engine oil i nt o t he cy linder . Crank the engine seve r al
revolutions to d i str ibut e the oi l , then re insta ll the spark plug .
5. Reinstall the spa rk plug cap on the spark plug.
6. Pu ll the starter g rip slowly unt i l resistance is felt , then r e t urn t h e starter grip gently . This c lo ses t he va lv es so moisture cannot enter the engine’s
combustion chamber .
7. For storage periods longer than 6 weeks, remove the battery and connect it to a battery storage type charger . Follow directions on the charger for
proper use.
