Rear Disc Mower
42
All adjustment regarding cutting height (Y) is achieved by varying the top link (X) on top
of the mower frame, which alters the angle of inclination (Z). When the frame is level
vertically then Z = 5°. Reducing dimension (X) increases the slope or angle (Z) of the
cutting discs, which lowers the cutting height (Y) and vice versa.
When the mower frame is set level vertically with the lift arms set, as shown, the cutter
bar angle Z = 5°, giving an approximate cutting height of 38 mm. Shortening the top link
by 20 mm will reduce the cutting height to 25 mm, while lengthening the top link by
20 mm will increase the cutting height to 51 mm.
The leg stands must be returned to the raised position and pinned securely, either for
working or transportation. Ensure all curtains and side guards are lowered fully when in the
working position. To lower or raise the mower the lift/lower latch must be released by pulling
on the latch cord temporarily. The mower is then lowered using lift ram spool and set in a
float position. Then engage PTO at a speed of 1,000 rpm and drive forward at approximately
10 km/h, checking swath width and cutting height. If adjustments are necessary, then shut
down PTO and tractor and ensure all motion has ceased before approaching the mower.
When the mower is being removed from the tractor it is very important to release the
pressure from the suspension accumulator. First lower the leg stands and secure them
in the storage position. Ensure the mower bed is unlatched and lowered to the ground
for stability. Connect the hydraulic hose (with tap) to the single (or double) acting
hydraulic supply. Then open the tap and release the oil back into the tractor until the
suspension pressure on the gauge is reading zero.
NOTE: Skid heights must be taken into account when fitted
There are two skid height options available; +25 mm and +50 mm and
the specific skid height fitted must be added to the above 'Y' values to
determine the actual cutting height.
WARNING: Check before starting or moving the machine
Before starting or moving the machine, ensure there is nobody in the
vicinity, especially children, that may be out of view.
ENVIRONMENT: Begin mowing at the centre of the field
Where possible begin mowing from the centre of the field and work from
the inside out. This gives wildlife a chance to escape as they try to
remain under cover. Using a conventional approach means they get
trapped in the centre!
