General Information

New Season Preparation

Review the Safety section in the manual.

Clean the baler, removing trash and dirt
accumulation. Make sure all worn or damaged parts
were replaced.

Clean with solvent all working parts of the knotter
assemblies which had been coated with grease.
Wipe dry with a clean cloth.

Clean roller chains, and inspect chains for stiffness or
excessive wear. Check adjustment and alignment.

Clean and lubricate the wheel bearings.

Replace hydraulic reservoir breather air filter.

Check and clean the air cleaner as required. Replace
primary and secondary air cleaner elements.

Do all the items on the Daily checklist

Do all lubrication and service items whose calender
time is due. Visually inspect all lubrication points to
make sure lubrication is being received.

Inspect all bearings and bearing flanges. Make sure
the bearings and bearing flanges are tight and not
badly worn.

Rotate the plunger stop. Make sure the plunger stop
is free to rotate and will engage properly.

Make sure the twine fingers are free to rotate.

Make sure the hay dogs are free to rotate and the hay
dog springs are not broken. Make sure the rubber
bumpers on the hay dogs are not missing.

Run the baler at half-speed for a few minutes. Shut
off tractor engine and inspect all bearings for
overheating, excessive wear, or loose flanges and
lock collars. Check roller chains and sprockets for
overheating.

Tighten any loose bolts and nuts. Make sure all cotter
pins are in place.

Make sure the correct operating adjustments have
been made for type of crop to be baled.

See the Accessories and Options section for extra
equipment.

Storage

Use the following recommended procedures for service
and storage of the baler at the end of the season for best
performance at the beginning of the next season.

Remove all crop from the bale chamber.

Thoroughly clean the baler. Crop and dirt will hold
moisture and cause rust.

Check the baler thoroughly for any worn or damaged
parts that need replacing. Order the parts from your
dealer.

Thoroughly lubricate the baler. Clean and oil all roller
chains.

Coat the inside of the bale chamber with a coating of
heavy oil or rust preventive.

Paint or apply a coating of heavy oil or rust preventive
to the walls of the charge chamber and the plunger
knives.

Apply a coating of grease or rust proofing compound
to all working parts of the knotter assembly.

NOTE: This coating must be removed before operating

the baler.

Lubricate the piston rods of the baler swing cylinder
and the bale density cylinders to prevent rust.

Paint all surfaces where paint has worn.

Store the baler in a dry, sheltered area if possible.

Remove battery and store where protected from
freezing temperatures.

Disconnect baler control console from the baler
wiring harness. Install the cap on the baler wiring
harness. Store the baler control console in a dry
place.

Block the baler up so the weight is off the tires.

NOTE: DO NOT deflate the tires.

m

WARNING: Do not allow children to play on
the baler at any time.
