Gearbox
FIG. 19: Check the oil level with the baler setting on level
ground and hitch set to correct operating height. The oil
must be level with the bottom of the hole when the oil level
plug (1) is removed. Add oil through the fill plug (2) hole
on top of the gearbox. The gearbox has a magnetic drain
plug (3) in the bottom of the housing for draining the oil.
See Specifications for the correct type and quantity of
lubricant.
Clean or replace the breather for the gearbox at the end
of each season. The breather is mounted in the fill plug
Grease Fittings
Lubricate the baler after baling while the baler is still
warm. Lubricate the baler only enough to prevent wear.
Extra lubrication can mix with dirt or sand and cause
increased wear.
Clean each lubrication fitting before lubricating. Check
each lubrication location. Make sure each lubrication
location receives lubrication. Check for loose or broken
lubrication lines. Always check for loose, missing, and
worn parts while lubricating the baler.
When baling in normal conditions, use the time periods
indicated in the Service Chart. Severe operating
conditions will require more frequent lubrication.
