WARNING
•
A brake lever that feels soft or spongy when
braking may indicate that there is air or water in
the hydraulic system. If there is air or water in
the hydraulic system, please have it bled or the
brake fluid replaced by your dealer.
•
Air or water in the hydraulic system reduces
braking performance and may cause loss of
control of the vehicle.
Brake pads
1 mm
1 mm
The brake pads must be checked at regular intervals.
In the best case, before every journey. The wear of the
pads depends on driving style and road conditions. If
the minimum pad thickness of 1 mm is reached, both
pads must be replaced. Leave the replacement of the
brake pads to the specialist dealer. Worn brake pads
increase the braking distance.
Brake fluid
MAX.
MIN.

WARNING
Insufficient brake fluid level can lead to air
entrapment in the brake system, which reduces
braking force. Check that the brake fluid is above
the minimum mark (1) before each journey and top
up if necessary.
•
A low level may also indicate worn brake pads
or a leak in the brake system.
•
If the brake fluid level is low, please check the
brake pads for wear and the brake system for
leaks.
•
When checking the brake fluid level, make sure
that the brake master cylinder is level. Turn the
handlebar accordingly.
•
Only use high-quality brake fluid, otherwise
the rubber seals may degrade and lead to poor
braking performance.
BRAKE FLUID
Quality
DOT 4
•
Always top up with the same brake fluid. Mixing
can lead to chemical reactions and reduced
braking performance.
•
Make sure that no water enters the brake
master cylinder when refilling. This reduces the
boiling point of the brake fluid considerably and
can lead to the formation of vapour bubbles.
•
Brake fluid attacks painted surfaces and
plastic. Always wipe off overflowing brake fluid
immediately.
•
As your brake pads wear, the level of brake fluid
also decreases.
•
However, if the brake fluid level decreases
quickly, please contact your specialist dealer.
Change brake fluid
WARNING
The brake fluid may only be changed by the
specialist dealer.
Have your specialist dealer check the brake fluid
according to the maintenance table and replace it if
necessary.
