NOTICE:
Do not operate any button on the
Portable Battery Checker and disconnect the SD
memory card until the Portable Battery Checker
turns off.
4. Remove the SD memory card from the Portable
Battery Checker.
5. Turn on the Portable Battery Checker and confirm
the version number on the Makita logo screen. If the
version number is 3.0 or larger number, the update is
successfully performed.

NOTE: If the update is unsuccessful, try it again by
following the above procedures.
Step A: Installing the
Interchangeable Adapter for BTC
Turn off the Portable Battery Checker and insert this
adapter to the slot. Make sure that the hook on the
adapter is in the locked position.

To remove the adapter, pull the adapter in the direction
of the arrow while pulling up the hook.

Step B: Installing the dedicated
adapter
Hold the grip part of the plug and align each arrows as
illustrated. Insert the plug straight into the socket until
the plug is locked with a little click.
To remove the dedicated adapter, hold the sleeve and
pull out the plug.

Step C: Installing the battery
cartridge
Hold and insert straight the plug into the battery terminal
until the hook on the plug is latched with the rib of the
battery terminal.

Step D: Installing the portable power
pack
Align the protrusion on the socket of the dedicated
adapter with the counterpart on the plug of the unit. The
protrusion is painted white as a mark. Then attach the
socket to the plug by turning the socket.

OPERATION
Battery diagnosis procedure
Refer to the instruction manual of the Portable Battery
Checker for detail. Connect the battery cartridge / porta-
ble power pack to this adapter instead.
NOTICE:
Turn on the portable power pack when
diagnosing the portable power pack. Otherwise diag-
nosing does not start.
How to interpret the diagnosis
results

The diagnosis results are displayed on 6 separate
screens. Select the screen by operating the forward and
backward buttons.

1) Number of charging times
The number of times a battery has been charged to
date is displayed on this screen.
2) Remaining capacity
The remaining capacity of the battery is indicated using
a bar graph display. When the bar extends up to the far
right end, it means that the battery is fully charged.
NOTE: This is not an indication of the service life of
the battery itself.
NOTE: The display may not be the same as the
remaining capacity indicator on the battery.

1) Battery service life
The remaining service life of the battery is displayed
on this screen. When the battery is new, the bar graph
units are filled in up to the far right end, but they dimin -
ish in range as the battery deteriorates.
2) Battery temperature
The battery temperature is displayed in Celsius and
Fahrenheit temperature scale.

1) Battery voltage
The voltage value of the battery is displayed on this
screen.
2) Voltage of each battery block (cell)
The voltage of each block inside the battery is displayed
using a graph. The number of block varies depending
on the battery to be diagnosed. A low voltage of a par-
ticular block or variations of three or more scale units
between blocks may indicate a problem in the cells
concerned or in the circuitry.
