Fireplace Safety

eration of the fireplace. To provide reasonable fire safety,
the following should be given serious consideration:

in use.
• An annual inspection should be performed on the
fireplace system.
• Install at least one smoke detector on each floor of your
home to ensure your safety.
• Install a conveniently located Class A fire extinguisher
near the fireplace.
• Devise a practiced evacuation plan, consisting of at least
two escape routes.
• Devise a plan to deal with a chimney fire:
- Evacuate.
- Notify the fire department.
