6. Set the appliance base assembly in the fireplace and
connect the gas supply line to the main regulator of
the appliance. The base assembly may be secured
to the fireplace by using masonry screws.

DANGER
Do not use candles, matches or other ignition
sources when checking for gas leaks. Fuel gases
are very flammable and in certain concentrations,
explosive. Checking for leaks with an open flame
may lead to fire or explosion.

7. Before setting logs in place, turn the gas on and check each joint in the gas line carefully
with a soap and water or liquid gas leak solution for leaks. Bubbles indicate leaks. Repair
any leaks before proceeding.
8. It is most convenient to light the pilot burner and check the operation of the main burners
with the logs not in place. After carefully checking the gas line for leaks and correcting
any found, refer to the lighting and operation section of this manual. Carefully read the
safety information, then light the pilot burner according to the instructions. The pilot flame
should be clear blue and should appear similar to the flame as shown in
Figure 5
.
