Fan Belt Adjustment

BOLT
To Adjust the fan belt tension loosen the adjusting bolt and pivot nut of
the alternator. Move the alternator away from the engine until correct belt
tension is reached. Tighten the adjusting bolt and pivot nut to a torque of
16 Nm (12 lb ft).
NOTE:
Too much tension will cause alternator and water pump bearing
failure and belt wear. Too little tension will cause a decrease in alternator
output and belt wear.
Rotating fan and belts. Contact can injure. Keep clear.

NOTE:
Adjust the belt tension after the first 50 hours of operation and
replace when necessary.
Measure the fan belt for correct tension. Check to see if the belt
deflection is about 13mm (0.5 inch) when pushing the belt with 10 kg (22
lb) load at point
.
