Dear MAGNAT Customer,
Congratulations on your fine new loudspeakers and thank you very much for choosing MAGNAT! You
have made an excellent choice. The high-quality speakers produced by MAGNAT are renowned all over
the world.
Please study the instructions and information below carefully before using your new loudspeakers.
GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT CONNECTING YOUR MAGNAT INTERIOR AUDIO LOUD-
SPEAKERS
The connectors are located at the rear of the speakers. They are equipped with a clamping mechanism
for cables cross-sections of up to 1.5 mm². To connect the speakers, please use normally available 2 x
0.75 mm² – 2 x 1.5 mm² loudspeaker cables. The cables are to be cut to the required length, the ends
stripped and the end of the wires twisted to make it easier to connect them to the terminals.
Always turn off the amplifier or receiver before connecting or disconnecting loudspeaker cables. For good
sound the cables must be connected so that the speakers are “in phase”. This means that the black neg-
ative terminals on the speakers (-) must be connected to the negative (-) terminals on the amplifier, the
positive (+) speaker terminals to the positive (+) amplifier terminals.
Before switching on the system double-check all your connections and make sure that the terminal screws
are tight and that there are no short circuits caused by stray wire filaments – this could cause serious dam-
age to your amplifier!
THE MAGNAT INTERIOR AUDIO LOUDSPEAKERS IN STEREO MODE
In the ideal configuration the speakers and the listening position should form an equilateral triangle. When
the left and right speakers are the same distance from the listening position their sound arrives at the
same time, resulting in a harmonious, natural music reproduction. (Fig. 1)
There should be a clear line of sight between the loudspeakers and the listening position. Any sound-ab-
sorbing or reflecting obstacles in the path will distort the sound. When you install the loudspeakers the
following distances should be maintained:
Shelf loudspeakers should be as free-standing as possible, the distance to the sides to walls and items
should be at least 10 cm, the tweeters should be located at ear height.
If the speakers are arranged on
a shelf, there must be a minimum clearance of 10 cm to the shelves above or the ceiling.
MAGNAT INTERIOR AUDIO LOUDSPEAKERS AS A FRONT OR REAR LOUD-SPEAKER
The front loudspeakers are positioned at ear height on the left and right as equidistant from the television
as possible. The rear loudspeakers are placed at ear height or a little above on the left and right besides
or better behind the listening position. (Fig. 2)
If possible, the cross-over frequency for the front and rear channels should be adjusted to approximately
80 Hz in the AV receiver's set-up. Otherwise all the recommendations made in the previous chapter also
apply.
WALL-MOUNTING THE SPEAKERS WITH THE SUPPLIED BRACKETS
2 brackets for wall-mounting the speakers are supplied, together with 4 screws for securing the speakers
to the brackets.
The speakers are to be wall-mounted using the supplied wall brackets. The brackets are only suitable for
wall-mounting; they are not intended for ceiling-mounting. It is not possible to mount the speakers on the
ceiling.
