5. Checking the nozzle tips for wear.
Measure the flow rate of several tips on each
boom section. Calculate the difference in flow rate
between the new nozzle (D) and the nozzles being
checked (E). Convert the difference in the flow
rate into a percentage using the following
equation.

If the flow rate of any nozzle tip is greater or less
than 10% of the new tip, recheck the faulty nozzle
and replace if necessary. If a second tip is found
to be faulty, replace all the nozzles on the entire
boom.
While measuring the flow rate, observe the spray
distribution for any distortion of the spray pattern.
An irregular spray pattern may indicate wear or an
obstruction. Remove the tip and screen and use
the brush to clean. Replace and check to see if
the problem is corrected. If it is not, replace the
nozzle and screen with a new nozzle and screen.
