920MHz Band Wireless Device (Korea) USERS MANUAL EM-9121 Rev. 1
7.1.9 IPV6 PREFIX
Child devices which are authenticated to join the multihop network obtain their IPv6 addresses and join the network.
Set a network prefix (leading 64 bits of IPv6 address) to a parent device to configure the addresses.
The IPv6 addresses for wireless devices are automatically set combining this prefix set to the parent device and short addresses
set to individual parent and child devices.
The IPv6 addresses are configured according to the following flow.
1) Set a prefix to the parent device.
2) The parent device automatically sets its own IPv6 address using this prefix. (The short address of the parent device is fixed to
0.)
3) Set fixed short addresses to child devices.
4) The child devices obtain the information on the adjacent wireless devices and the prefix.
5) The child devices automatically set their IPv6 addresses using the prefix and their short addresses.
6) Each child device notifies the parent device of its own IPv6 address.
7) The parent device notifies the child device of the availability of the IPv6 address.
Hereafter, the parent device manages the addresses of the wireless devices under its control.
Use the IPv6 global unicast address (leading 16 bits defined with 2000 to 3FFF as shown in the figure below) to set a prefix to the
parent device. Do not replace consecutive groups containing zeros with single empty group using two consecutive colons (::), al-
though it is common to represent an IPv6 address.

Set any prefix since the IPv6 communication is used only in the closed wireless segment.
However it is recommended to set a unique prefix to each parent device for the network management.
Set a prefix as shown in the table below.
