Features 

NEMA Type 4 Enclosure Reference Guide 

E-EQ-NEMARG-F 

Heater 

An optional heater expands the operating range of the Enclosure.  The Enclosure turns the heater 
on or off as necessary to maintain the operating temperatures of the AP’s and bridges.  Please refer 
to Appendix A, “Technical Specifications” for the operating temperature ranges of standard and 
heated Enclosures. 

If the temperature is below the operating range of the enclosed device, power is supplied to the 
heater only.  Power is not supplied to the enclosed device until the temperature reaches the 
operating range of the enclosed device.   The heater is enabled when the ambient temperature is 
below 15º C (59º F).  Power is supplied to enclosed devices when the internal temperature is 
above 0º C (32º F). 

Lightning Suppression 

The Enclosure has optional lightning protection.  Lightning protection is available for any 
combination of the following areas: 

•

 

AC power 

•

 

Ethernet 

•

 

Up to four RF antenna connections 

Lightning protection is designed to meet ANSI and IEEE specifications involving a waveform of 8 

μ

s rise time by 20 

μ

s fall time.  Lightning protection meets a minimum 10 kA. 

Lightning suppression may be ordered when the Enclosure order is placed.  LXE also sells 
separate kits to add lightning suppression to units ordered without this option.  Please contact your 
LXE representative for more details.
