Proper posture
– Hold the operating bar with both hands.
– Motor and shaft tube are positioned on your right
side.
– Balance the machine and ensure a natural
stance.
Cutting tips
• Prior to trimming, the trimming tool must have
reached its maximum operating speed.
• Only cut with the right-hand (here dark grey) part
of the cutting area by moving the device from left
to right in a semi-circle.
• Gentle and rebound-free cutting is possible only
in this area.
• Never set in the left-hand (here light grey) area
for cutting. Here there is a high risk of rebound
and objects may be slung in your direction by the
rotation of the cutting tool. This may cause
injury.
• When moving the device from right to left, you
must keep the cutting tool away from the
ground, so that nothing is flung away.
• Always cut long grass from top to bottom so that
the grass does not wrap around the trimming
tool.
• Trim with a sense of touch.
• Use only the tip of the trimming tool. In this way,
you will reduce the stress on the motor and pre-
vent grass from being trapped by the trimming
tool.
• Move the trimming tool only as close as is nec-
essary to tree trunks, posts, walls, fences, and
similar objects. Otherwise, the machine or
objects in its vicinity may become damaged.
Caution: risk of recoil!
– Examine the area to be trimmed, and remove
objects which could be flung by the trimming
tool.
– Before starting to work, make sure the machine
– Start the motor (
– Use the shoulder strap to properly support the
machine, and hold the operating bar with both
– Press the fuel lever over to its full extent. Always
trim at full throttle!
Extending the filament
If the machine no longer cuts cleanly, then the fila-
ments have become too short.
You get the best trimming results when you extend
the filaments far enough that they are cut by the fila-
ment trimming knife.
Extending the filaments while trimming
– While the machine is running, push the under-
side of the filament spool briefly against the
ground.
– If the filaments were still not sufficiently
extended, push the underside against the
ground again.
The filaments are automatically trimmed to the cor-
rect length by the filament trimming knife.
Extending filaments by hand
If the filaments have already become too short, they
will no longer be extended by pressing the underside
against the ground. You must pull them out from the
filament spool by hand.
– Switch off the motor.
– Lay the machine on the ground
– Push by hand on the underside of the filament
spool and pull out both filaments out until they
are somewhat longer than the edge of the pro-
tective hood.
– The filaments are trimmed to the correct length
by the filament trimming knife.
DANGER! Danger of injury!
If you hold
the motor too high, or on the wrong (left
hand) side, you may become liable to
severe burns from hot surfaces. The motor
must always be:
– on your right hand side and
– behind the body at waist height.
DANGER! Great danger of injury by
recoil!
Dangerous recoil may occur during
the operation of a petrol-driven rotary trim-
mer! Uncontrolled recoil may cause the
machine to be accelerated or thrown for-
ward. Follow the instructions given on trim-
ming. In particular, when trimming solid
materials (e. g. brushwood, bushes, etc.),
make sure not to trim in areas where a
recoil of the machine is possible.
DANGER! Danger of injury!
Always turn
off the motor before laying down the
machine!
DANGER! Danger of injury!
When work-
ing on the filament spool, always switch the
motor off!
