– Check that all parts of the machine have been
securely fitted.
– Check that all safety devices are in proper con-
dition.
– Check that there are no leaks.
– Remove the knife transport guard.
Starting the engine
– Lay the machine on a flat surface free of growth
such that it rests on the motor and the protective
hood.
Cold start
– Gently press fuel pump (18) often enough that no
more bubbles are visible (approx. 10×).
– Set ignition switch (11) to
[1]
.
– Position the choke lever (15) in position
[ ]
.
– Use your left hand to hold the machine firmly by
the top shaft tube.
– Slowly pull out the pull starter (16) until there is
resistance, then quickly and strongly pull it fur-
ther until the motor starts briefly.
– Position the choke lever (15) in position
[ ]
.
– Pull the pull starter again quickly and strongly
until the motor runs.
– Allow the engine to run 15–30 s.
– Slowly press down on the throttle to increase the
motor speed and let the motor run at full throttle
for a while.
Warm start
– Set ignition switch (11) to
[1]
.
– Position the choke lever (15) in position
[ ]
.
– Pull the pull starter until the motor runs.
– If the motor does not start after you pulled the
starter three times, repeat the starting procedure
as described under motor cold start .
Switching off the motor
– Set ignition switch (11) to
[0]
.
The motor will switch off.
Use
Make yourself fully familiar with the technique of
using the machine before starting to use it. For more
information, refer to appropriate technical literature.
The instructions listed here are only intended to
serve as additional information!
Wear the carry strap
– Wear the carry strap in such a way that the hook
is positioned at your right side.
– Adjust the length of carry strap to ensure that
you are able to hold the unit securely and oper-
ate it.
Emergency loop
– In an emergency, firmly pull on the red loop on
the strap hook. This releases the unit from the
strap.
Spreading the load on your shoulders
– Adjust the harness for the best working position.
Tension the side straps so that the weight is
evenly distributed across both shoulders.
Balancing the motor scythe
– Loosen the screw (39)
– Wear the carry strap and set the balance of the
unit by sliding the eye (2):
– Slide the eye on the shaft pipe forwards:
Motor scythe is weighted towards the motor.
– Slide the eye on the shaft pipe backwards:
Motor scythe is weighted towards the tool.
– Tighten the screw (39) back up again.
The floor clearance will depend on the selected cut-
ter tool:
• When using the thread mode on a even surface,
the thread spool should lie gently on the floor
when you are not holding it with your hands.
• When using the cutting blade, or when working
on more difficult sufrfaces, the cutting tool
should be around 20 cm cm above the floor
when you are not holding it with your hands.
DANGER! Danger of fire!
The machine
may catch fire due to any fuel which may
have been spilled.
Carefully wipe off any spilled fuel before
starting the motor.
Start the machine at least nine metres away
from the spot where you filled it with fuel.
DANGER! Danger of injury!
When starting
the machine, make sure it rests firmly and
steadily. You must be able to hold it firmly
and securely with one hand, without any-
thing coming into contact with the trimming
head. The trimming tool rotates during
starting!
Note:
Pull the pull starter out and slowly
guide it back using your hand.
Note:
If the choke lever is set to
[ ]
:
Keep pulling the pull starter only until you
hear a first ignition sound. Otherwise, there
is a risk of fuel getting into the combustion
chamber, which would prevent an ignition
spark.
DANGER! Danger of injury!
Switch the
motor off:
• when the trimming tool has come into
contact with hard objects;
• when you notice changes in the
machine’s behaviour;
• when the motor sound has changed.
Check the machine and have it repaired if
necessary. Never work with a damaged
machine or trimming tool.
WARNING! Risk of injury!
The unit may
not be operated without the carry strap.
