OWNER’S LOGS AND RECORDS
At the end of this chapter are several forms which you will find very helpful.
The
Float Plan
provides a record of your destination, departure and return times,
boat description, passenger list, and other information about the trip you have
planned. At the bottom of the form is space for listing emergency telephone num-
bers in case your return is delayed past the expected time. It also has space for indi-
cating information about the person filing this report. Leave the completed form
ashore with a responsible person. We recommend you make several copies of this
form each boating season to assure an ample supply.
The
Fuel Log
is a handy way to record information covering engine hours, fuel con-
sumption, miles traveled, as well as RpM (revolutions per minutes), average mph
(miles per hour), and gph (gallons per hour).
The
Service/Maintenance Log
provides a record of maintenance work completed,
the date of completion, and the engine hour reading. This log also helps you identify
the frequency of routine maintenance work, such as engine oil changes. If you
should decide to sell your boat, it demonstrates to prospective buyers that you have
done a good job of taking care of it.
NAVIGATIONAL AIDS CHART
The illustrated Navigational Aids Chart on the next two pages contains information
concerning whistle signals, storm warnings, bridge signals, and buoy descriptions..
