OPERATION
Seaming
For this purpose, use:
•
Stitch pattern rotary switch: 1
•
Stitch length: 1-4
•
Sewing foot: seaming foot
•
Thread tension adjusting wheel: 4-6
1. Insert the seaming foot, see paragraph Change the sewing foot, page 9.
2. Wrap the fabric edge to be seamed double at approx. 3 mm.
3. Before you start with the automatic seaming, sew approx. 5 mm of the
edge tight, in order to secure the foldover.
4. Stop and lift the needle.
5. Now pull the fabric edge into the rolling device of the seaming foot and
slowly begin with the seaming.
6. Make sure that the fabric does not get caught beneath the right half of
the seaming foot. The seaming edge has to be properly pulled through
the rolling device of the seaming foot.
7. During the seaming process, slightly fold the fabric to the left and let the
fabric edge run through the foot with sufficient breadth.
Sewing with double needles
Sewing with double needles enables you to sew two coloured patterns by using two differently
coloured yams.
Use the following settings:
•
Sewing foot: zig-zag foot
•
Stitch pattern rotary switch: 1
•
Stitch length rotary switch 2-3
•
Thread tension adjusting wheel: 4-6
1. Fix the double needle like a normal needle, see paragraph Changing the needle, page 9.
2. Pull both of the lowered thread spool holders (10) upwards and attach two evenly filled thread
spools.
3. Thread both threads through the thread guide, as you know it from the simple upper thread, see
paragraph Threading the upper thread, page 14.
4. Thread one thread in every needle of the double needle.
ATTENTION!
Remove the double needle from the fabric before changing the seaming direction. Otherwise the
needles are prone to break.
