Chapter 3 Configuring Ports and Channels Using the Console

Configuring the Ports

Select one of the lines with the port you want to configure.

[Protection Type]

Default:

None

Range: N/A

Format: Predefined

Displays the type of protection for this module as
determined by slot position or switchover status.

None

Indicates that this module is not operating in a
protection mode, neither providing protection to,
nor being protected by, another module.

NtoMWorking

Indicates that this module is operating as a
working module in a protection mode.

NtoMProtection

Indicates that this module is operating as a
protection module in a protection mode.

Operating Mode

Default:

N/A

Range: N/A
Format: Predefined

Specifies the operating mode of the module. To
change from one mode to another, select this
field and press Enter to display the apprpriate
mode. Use the

Apply Operating Mode Change

command to load the displayed operating mode.
After applying the command, approximately 25
seconds elapse until the PSAX system recognizes
the change in operating mode. After the change,
it may be necessary to refresh and display the
appropriate wording on the window by toggling
between this window, the previous window, and
back to this window again.

Note:

All interfaces must be out of service,

deleted, and unconfigured before changing the
operating mode.

DS3

Indicates that the module is operating in DS3
mode.

E3

Indicates that the module is operating in E3
mode.
