MAINTENANCE
Proper maintenance is indispensible for safe, economic and
troublefree operation. It also reduces air pollution.
Improper maintenance or neglecting to correct a fault before
starting the unit may cause operating malfunctions which might
lead to serious injuries or death.
Follow the inspection and maintenance directions of these
operating instructions.
The following pages contain a maintenance plan, routine
inspections and simple maintenance measures with simple tools to
help you with the proper maintenance of your engine. Let customer
service carry out more difficult service tasks or tasks that require
special tools.
SAFETY DURING MAINTENANCE
The following safety precautions are particularly important;
however, we cannot warn against all potential dangers associated
with maintenance work. Only you can decide whether you will carry
out a certain activity or not.
Disregarding the maintenance instructions and precautions may
result in serious injuries or death.
Make sure you follow the inspection measures and precautions in
the operating instructions.
Safety advices

Check to make sure that the engine is switched off before you
begin with maintenance and repair tasks. This will prevent
possible hazards.
Carbon monoxide poisoning through engine
exhaust gases
Ensure adequate ventilation when operating the engine.
Burns through hot parts
Allow the engine and silencer to cool down before
touching them.
Injuries from moving parts
Start the engine only when asked to do so.

Read the instructions. Make sure before beginning with the
working tasks that you have the tools and know-how required
to performing them.

Be careful when handling gasoline to prevent fire or
explosion.
z
Use only non-flammable solvents when cleaning the parts; do
not use gasoline.
z
No cigarettes, sparks and flames near parts coming into
contact with fuel.
Customer service knows the engine best and is optimally equipped
to handle maintenance and repair tasks.
Use only new original spare parts for replacement or repair to
guarantee the quality and reliability of your engine.
