Power Source
This portable radio operates on regular household power (AC 230V~50Hz) or DC6V 4xAA/
UM-3/LR6 size batteries.
Mains Power
Plug the mains cable into the back of the radio and connect the mains plug (included) into
a mains socket.
Battery Power
1. Push the tabs down to open the battery compartment cover.
2. Insert the batteries (not included) into the battery compartment. Be sure to install
the batteries correctly by following the polarity (+ and –) indications in the battery
compartment.
3. Close the battery compartment cover.
The unit carries voltage even when switched off. It is necessary to unplug the mains
cable to cut the power supply off.
Handling the Battery
• Improper or incorrect use of batteries may cause corrosion or battery leakage,
which could cause fire, personal injury or damage to property.
• Install the battery correctly by following the polarity (+ and –) indications in the
battery compartment.
• Use only the battery type indicated in this manual.
• Do not mix different types of batteries together (e.g. alkaline, rechargeable and
standard (carbon zine)) or old batteries with fresh ones.
• Do not dispose of the used battery as domestic waste. Dispose of it in accordance
with local regulations.
• If you are not going to use the unit for a long time, remove the batteries to avoid
damage from battery leakage and corrosion.
Listening To Your Radio
Turn the VOLUME control upwards to turn on the radio.
Set MW/ FM switch to the desired frequency band :
FM = Frequency Modulation : 88 to 108 MHz
MW = Medium Wave : 530 to 1600 kHz
Tuning to a Radio Station
Tune the radio by turning the TUNING control. Use the frequency display to locate the
station.
For MW, turn the set to find the position which gives the best reception.
For FM, adjust the aerial for better reception.
Adjusting the Volume
Adjust the volume by turning the VOLUME control. Turn off the radio by turning the
VOLUME control down until you hear a “click”.

Cleaning the Unit
• To clean the unit, wipe the case with a slightly moist, lint-free cloth.
• Do not use any cleaning fluids containing alcohol, ammonia or abrasives.

Do not spray aerosol at or near the unit.

Solution
No power
• Ensure the mains cable is connected securely at both ends.
• Make sure that the ON mode is selected.
Poor FM reception
• Make sure the FM aerial wire is fully extended.
• Electrical interference in your home can cause poor
reception. Move the unit away from them (especially those
with motors and transformers).
Poor AM reception
• Rotate the unit horizontally until the orientation with best
reception is found.
The unit does not
respond when
pressing any buttons
• The unit may freeze up during use. Switch the unit off and
then on again at the mains socket to reset the unit.
