8.3 Sensor Installation
A. Basic Tools Required Drill machine, measuring tape, Hole saw,
screwdriver etc.
B. Drilling and sensor mounting

First, clean the tank residual oil, dirt dust etc. then rinse with
water to make sure there is no gas or oil content in the tank.

Select the drilling point on the center of the oil tank surface
Corner installation will cause inner wall reflection and erroneous
reading. Sensor sound wave must have sufficient diameter to
cause no inner wall reflections.
Minimum distance from side
walls should be 100mm for 1000 mm height tanks. This should
be increased for tanks with greater height.

Use hole saw to drill point on selected fixed point, when drilling,
please avoid the iron filing falling into the tank (drill hole as per
sensor diameter). You may use a strong magnet to prevent fillings
falling inside the tank.

Mount ultrasonic sensors with plastic gasket to avoid acoustic
energy absorption through the sensor body.
