7 Troubleshooting
Type of Malfunction Possible Cause Correction
No Heat – No power to unit • Plug power cord into proper outlet
120V, 15 amp, Single Phase
– Faulty thermostat • Check for electrical continuity
when cold
– Discontinuity of circuit • Check circuit
Inadequate Heat – Improper thermostat setting • Adjust
Roll does not turn – One or more faulty heating elements • Check for discontinuity and replace
– Adhesive pot is cold • Turn on or repair heaters
– Chain is broken • Replace chain
– Motor is defective • Check motor brushes, replace
– Motor is defective • Replace motor
– Clutch is loose • Tighten clutch
Roll slows or stops under load – Motor torque exceeded • Reduce load
– Clutch is loose or contaminated • Clean and/or adjust clutch
with oil
Rapid accumulation of Char or – Pot temperature too high • Reduce pot temperature
excessive smoking of adhesive
