If for any reason you do not understand the test procedures or are unable to perform the tests/repairs safely, contact your
Lincoln Authorized Service Facility for technical troubleshooting assistance before you proceed.

MOTOR DOES NOT START.
Ensure 120 VAC 60Hz (K3972-
3), 230 VAC 50Hz (K2497-18),
input power is available.
Verify 120 VAC 60Hz (K3972-3), 230 VAC 50Hz (K2497-18),
input power at the machine.
Circuit breaker tripped.
Reset circuit breaker.
Carbon brushes worn.
Check brushes, replace if necessary.
Unit is in OFF mode.
Press and release Low/High button.
POOR SUCTION.
Leakage.
Check hose connections and integrity.
Filter dirty.
Replace both LongLife-H Filter and HEPA filter.
Pre-filter dirty.
Check pre-filter and replace or clean using an industrial vacuum
cleaner. Use caution and proper personal protection equipment
when cleaning pre-filter.
Improper application.
Check hose diameter and maximum length 24 ft. (7.5 m), check
filter for oily conditions.
Brushes worn in one of the
motors.
Contact your local Lincoln Authorized Field Service Facility.
UNIT WILL NOT SENSE
CURRENT.
Welding current too low.
Loop cable two or three times on current sensor.
Unit is in OFF mode.
Press and release Low/High button.
UNIT AUTOMATICALLY CYCLES
BETWEEN LOW AND HIGH
SPEEDS.
Loose connections.
Check connections from PC board to motors.
Control panel/PC board
damaged.
Replace control panel and PC board.
