SO YOU’VE J UST ORDERE D YOUR FIRST LIGHTB OARD KIT FROM US … WHAT ELSE DO YOU NEED
TO GET YOUR LIGHTBOARD STUDIO UP AND RUNNING?
EASY: JUST THREE MORE THINGS AND YOU’LL BE READY TO GO…
A)
VIDEO RECORDING DE VICE
We suggest a USB Webcam with a resolution of
720p (HD) or Higher
. Being a USB device makes it very
easy, quick and convenient to connect to your PC.
We DO NOT recommend using a camera with a Wide-Angle Lens (such as fisheye, or any camera with a Field of View greater than
80 degrees) as it WILL NOT work immediately with the LightBoard setup without additional software correction!
[Contact us for more
details if you have a wide-angle camera already and wish to use it with your LightBoard]
We DO NOT recommend using your webcam’s integrated microphone, as capturing your voice from a distance will be difficult.
Remember, you will be presenting from behind a Glass/Acrylic Windowpane!!
B)
AUDIO RECORDING DE VICE
We suggest a dedicated USB Microphone that can either:
(i)
Sit on a desktop
(ii)
Hang over top of your LightBoard frame, via a Stand w/ Boom
(iii)
Attach to your clothing
(iv)
Clip onto your Lightboard frame (frame rails are 30mm thick)
Being a USB device makes it very convenient to connect to your PC without the need for an amplifier or phantom
power supply in most cases.
C)
SOFTWARE FOR VIDE O STREAMING AND RECORDING
We suggest getting started with Open Source software such as
OBS Studio
(
https://obsproject.com/
).
This is an excellent FREE software package that offers plenty of powerful tools for Live & Recorded
videos. The
OBS Virtual Camera
, is now included by default in OBS, and allows you to make use of the
functionality of the OBS software from within another online meeting platform such as Teams, Zoom,
WebEx, etc. This is useful for live-sessions.
OTHER THINGS YOU M AY NEED…
a TRIPOD for your video camera and/or microphone boom.
If you’ve got a Sit-Stand kit, we recommend having a tripod that has a manual
hand-crank adjustment to make setup quicker and easier to go along with your
adjustable tabletop). Our Stock kits do NOT include this tripod.
A Power/Surge bar & Extension Cables for your Studio
When everything is set up, your studio can use anywhere from 4 up to 6 electrical
outlets or more and may need the convenience of longer extension cables and/or
Surge bars to increase the number of available sockets.
